Regional labor market insights |
---|
In September, TACC launched the Regional Labor Market Insights slide deck. The deck is broken down into the six TACC regions and provides labor market information for five key occupations per region. For each key occupation, there is a snapshot slide coupled with a career map slide. The career map identifies starter occupations, the key occupation, and advancer occupations along with the skills to acquire and potential salary boost associated with advancement. This tool will help colleges identify in-demand skills-based credentials aligned with regional occupations with labor market value. In this webinar Dr. Kristina Flores, the Director of Research & Evaluation for the Texas Success Center, will discuss the data and procedures used to develop the slide deck and answer any questions you may have.

Strengthening Rural Community Colleges - October 29, 2020 |

Over the past 18 months, the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) has conducted a comprehensive assessment of the needs of rural community colleges throughout the country. According to the U.S. Department of Education, there are over 260 rural community colleges in the United States that educate nearly 670,000 students a year. In addition to offering educational opportunities and vocational training, community colleges often represent the largest employer in their communities. In order to best serve these colleges and their students, it is critical that we understand their successes and their challenges, and develop policy solutions to support rural institutions and their communities in achieving academic and economic prosperity. During this webinar, Jee Hang Lee and Rachel Rush-Marlowe from ACCT will provide context for this work and share preliminary findings based off their stakeholder interviews and surveys.
