Advocacy

Advocacy is critical to ensuring state and federal policies and funding priorities positively impact our 50 Texas community colleges. As locally elected officials, trustees and regents are powerful advocates on behalf of their colleges, students, and the broader community.

The CCATT Legislative Committee collaborates with the Texas Association of Community Colleges (TACC) to promote effective, student-centered policies, practices, and funding models. We provide testimony, serve as resource witnesses, submit feedback and language on proposed legislation, and coordinate meetings with state legislators and members of our U.S. Congress.

You can find detailed information on policy priorities and legislative focus areas on the TACC website. To further support our advocacy efforts, CCATT developed the following resolution template for community college boards to consider adopting locally. This resolution is a powerful tool to demonstrate your institution’s support for these priorities and underscore the critical role of Texas community colleges in building a next-generation workforce.
