CCATT will host the first annual New Trustee Orientation for community college board members in Texas on Friday, January 27th, 2023! This one-day seminar will be hosted at the TACC Office in Austin, TX in a hybrid format to allow virtual participation.
As the only elected officials in higher education, trustees and regents across the state represent an important voice in matters of policy, resources, and governance for our colleges—and an important voice for the students that we educate.
This event will be useful for recently elected community college board members and other leaders who guide the local orientation processes for new trustees. Presentations will focus on effective board governance, the board-CEO relationship, fiscal responsibilities, and key metrics for equity in student success.
Training for new board members is also available at the following events:
- Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) National Legislative Summit: February 5 - 8, 2023 in Washington, D.C.
- CCATT Annual Conference: September 14 – 16, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas
- ACCT Leadership Congress: October 9 - 12, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada
- Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Annual Leadership Conference (2023 dates TBA, previously occurring in early December)
